About WhyMyStockMoved

When a stock jumps or crashes, people search "why is my stock down today?" and usually find jargon or nothing at all. WhyMyStockMoved explains big, unusual stock moves in plain English, usually within hours: what happened, why the market reacted the way it did, and whether it changes the company's future or is only a short-term reaction.

Who writes the articles

Articles are published under the byline WhyMyStockMoved Editors. Every article is AI-assisted, human-reviewed and edited: AI tools help us gather reports and draft quickly, and a human editor reads, checks and edits every article before it goes live. Nothing is published automatically.

What we cover

Several times each US trading day we look for stocks that moved far more than usual for their size, on heavy trading. We pick the moves readers are most likely to be confused about, such as good news followed by a falling stock, leaks, "sympathy" moves or no obvious news at all.

What we don't do

  • We never tell you to buy, sell or hold a stock. Our articles are education, not investment advice.
  • We don't take payment from the companies we write about.
  • We don't present leaked or unconfirmed figures as confirmed. We label them.
