Corrections policy

We want every number and fact on this site to be right. When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so.

How to report an error

Use the “Ask a question or report an error” form at the end of any article and choose “A correction”. Tell us what you think is wrong; a link to a source helps. The form sends us the article automatically, and our editors read every message.

What we do

  • Factual errors (wrong numbers, dates, names or events) are fixed as soon as we confirm them, usually within one business day. We add a dated note to the article's Updates section describing what changed.
  • Unconfirmed information that later turns out different (for example, leaked figures that differ from official data) is updated with a dated note showing both the old and the new figures.
  • Small fixes such as typos or clearer wording are made without a note when they don't change the meaning.
  • We don't quietly delete articles. If an article is fundamentally wrong, we explain the problem at the top of the article.
